The Deerfield Bannockburn Riverwoods Chamber of Commerce organized the scholarship program in 2002 and has awarded over $100,000 in college scholarships to seniors residing in 60015 zip code. Requirements for application include but are not limited to: residence in the 60015 zip code and/or an employee or immediate family of employee of a DBR Chamber of Commerce member in good standing and high school graduation in the 2018/2019 school year. The Deerfield Bannockburn Riverwoods (DBR) Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Foundation is pleased to announce the awarding of the 2019 DBR Chamber of Commerce college scholarship to Lauren Siegel and the DBR Chamber of Commerce/Deerfield Bank & Trust college scholarship to Mirella Strieleman. Jerry Nagaj, Vice President, Deerfield Bank and Trust was in attendance at Deerfield High School to present the award to Mirella Strieleman.
Lauren Siegel, a resident of Lincolnshire is described by her teachers as a true role model of resilience and compassion for her peers. She hopes to become a counseling psychologist and will attend Michigan State.
Mirella Strieleman, a resident of Deerfield is a rising star with interests and talents that include her skating for Team USA all over the world. She also teaches skating to young athletes. Mirella will be attending the University of San Diego.
Recipients of the awards are both outstanding students who have shown exceptional leadership.
