Many employers have automated and streamlined their hiring process. Throughout your job search, you will encounter various application processes that use an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to screen candidates for open positions. The ATS is the primarily process companies use find qualified candidates.
There are some basic enhancements you can add to your job search strategy to improve your chances of having your resume reviewed by the company’s recruiting team.

About the presenter:
Cheryl Hillman is currently a Human Resource Talent Acquisition Strategist for BlueCross BlueShield Association. Cheryl has over twenty years of experience in Human Resources as a talent acquisition leader. She believes in the power of positive thinking and thrives on all types of challenges especially those involving processes improvements, system implementations, cost reductions, and managing large scale projects and teams. Cheryl has successfully transformed four recruiting functions to optimize business processes; but, throughout her career, she has managed global recruiting teams in Asia, Europe, and Mexico.
Cheryl has a great depth of knowledge and experience empowering people to succeed. Prior to joining BlueCross, Cheryl was a Human Resource leader for the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. She led the diversity recruiting efforts for all 12 Federal Reserve Banks. Cheryl was the Human Resource Information Technology Director for Sears, Roebuck & Co. where she lead a department of 1800 Information Technology professionals. Cheryl has managed a variety of Human Resource functions in a wide array of industries and has lead Human Resource teams at companies like: Northrop Grumman, Panduit, Hewitt, and Underwriters Laboratories.
Cheryl strongly believes in “paying-it-forward” by assisting today’s youth. She has served as a Board Member for CEDA, serving on the job placement sub-committee. She is also a committee member and facilitator for the Delta Academy for Delta Sigma Theta, Chicago Alumnae Chapter. The Academy delivers a 7month program focused on Self-Esteem to girls age 11-13, the program was started by Dr. Betty Shabazz. Cheryl has facilitated training sessions for “Just Us Girls” on Internet Safety, Bullying, and Flawless: a Self-Esteem Builder. Cheryl has facilitated Diversity training, and Internship preparation sessions for INROADS Leadership Development Institute. Cheryl has served as a committee member for the Minority Economic Resource Center (MERC), and the Illinois Commission on Diversity & Human Relations (ICDHR)
Cheryl holds a Masters Degree in Human Resources from Roosevelt University in Chicago, Project Management Certification from George Washington University in Washington, DC, and is a Certified Behavioral Interview Trainer.
