Get ready for a riotously good time as Deerfield’s Theater D presents Noises Off by Michael Frayn, a play some have hailed as the greatest farce ever produced. Called the “funniest play written in my lifetime” by former New York Times critic Frank Rich, Noises Off is a comedy about putting on a comedy. With technical brilliance and split-second timing, Noises Off takes us behind the scenes in a hilarious and heartfelt tribute to the unpredictability of life in theatre. The rip-roaring play-within-a-play combines slapstick, a British sex comedy, and non-stop hilarity from a manic menagerie of under-rehearsed and over-worked itinerant actors rehearsing a flop called “Nothing On.” Doors slamming, on- and offstage intrigue, and an errant herring all figure in the plot of this uproarious and classically-comic play. As the production progresses, the bumbling cast brings down the house – literally! Noises Off premiered on Broadway in 1983 and was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Play. Director Debra Goldman “is beyond excited and honored to direct Theater D's Noises Off," she said. "Laughter is exactly what we need in our lives right now! Come be entertained, meet these wacky wonderful characters and literally laugh out loud. You will be glad you did!"
