SUSAN SUHLING, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
In October 2015 Susan Suhling joined Mothers Trust as Executive Director bringing a long history of working in social services and the non-profit sector in Lake County and internationally. Her background includes, program planning, and community development for Dickinson Hall, City of Lake Forest and Warren Township, Outdoor Adventure Therapy, and Case Management for youths within the Lake Co & Il juvenile justice system and DCFS. Susan served in the Peace Corps as a Child Survival Officer in Malawi, Africa. After returning to the U.S., she served as Chair of the grant applications committee for the Chicago Area Peace Corps Association and the National Peace Corps Conference held in Chicago.
Susan holds a Master of Science in Human Resource Management from Loyola University in Chicago, Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Illinois State University in Bloomington, IL. and Certificate in Mediation form the Center for Conflict Resolution in Chicago. After completing her graduate studies at Loyola University-Chicago, Susan worked as a Human Resource Generalist for Fel-Pro in Skokie specializing in innovative employee benefits and retention policies, and then as a consultant providing small business and nonprofit organizations with HR policy development and employee assessment before returning to social service administration.
