    The Village of Deerfield, Illinois (Pop. 19,197) seeks applicants for the full-time position of Building Division Supervisor following a retirement scheduled in June. The hiring range for this position is $130,761 - $153,836 depending on qualifications and experience (Complete 2024 Salary Range: $130,761 – $169,220, adjusted annually).

    Under general direction of the Deputy Village Manager/Director of Community Development or designee, the Building Division Supervisor continuously plans, directs, coordinates and evaluates the Village’s permit process, inspection process and plan review in the Building Division of the Community Development Department including the supervision of four full time staff and two contracted employees. Duties involve ensuring compliance with municipal code, building regulations, and zoning ordinances, as well as serving as a central resource for interpreting and applying local ordinances and building codes.  The Building Division Supervisor fulfills the position of Certified Building Official (CBO) as required by Illinois State Law.

    The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in construction management, public administration, or civil engineering and hold relevant ICC certifications. Seven to ten years of experience with residential and/or commercial inspections in combination with residential and/or commercial construction experience, three of which are at a supervisory level, is required.  Familiarity with OpenGov software is preferred.
